PHILADELPHIA, PA. – Seniors
Tom Hopkins (Syracuse/West Genesee) and
Tim Lee (West Babylon) competed in the college men's 10,000-meter run to represent Cortland at The Penn Relays.
The historic meet is held at Franklin Field at the University of Pennsylvania over five days, but Cortland only had Hopkins and Lee attend for Thursday night's 10K race.
Hopkins finished in 17th place in 30:24.51 and Lee was 34th in 32:23.34. Both times meet the ECAC Div. III qualifying standard. Thirteen of the 16 runners who finished ahead of Hopkins were from Div. I schools, and Hopkins was the second-best Div. III finisher.
In addition, Hopkins' time currently ranks 10th nationally in Div. III this season.
Cortland will compete at the Cornell Big Red Invitational on Sunday, April 27.
