Jerel Williams ran a leg on Cortland's ECAC-qualifying 4x100-meter relay in addition to his ECAC effort in the 400 meters
PRINCETON, N.J. – Sophomore
Jerel Williams (East Islip) recorded an ECAC-qualifying time in the 400-meter dash and was part of an ECAC standard-reaching relay to highlight Cortland's efforts at the Princeton University Sam Howell Men's Outdoor Track and Field Invitational Friday and Saturday. The non-team scoring meet featured numerous Division I schools.
Williams placed 11th of 47 competitors in the 400 meters in 49.72 seconds. He ran the third leg in the 4x100-meter relay that finished 11th in 43.20 seconds. Sophomore
Keewan Rondinello (Liverpool) started the relay, followed by freshman
Kenenna Emekekwue (Elmont/Sewanhaka), Williams and senior
Melique Garcia (Watervliet).
Junior
Nick Avossa (Kingston) and junior
Zach Zieniewicz (Seaford) each posted ECAC times in the 110-meter hurdles. Avossa finished 11th of 34 in 15.35 seconds and Zieniewicz was 19th in 15.55 seconds.
Senior
Tom Hopkins (Syracuse/West Genesee) was Cortland's other ECAC qualifier at the meet with a 13th-place time of 31:17.20 in the 10,000 meters.
Junior
Glen Forsythe (Uniondale) and junior
Jon Granger (Ticonderoga) were both in the top 10 in the long jump. Forsythe finished sixth at 6.63 meters (21' 9"), less than three inches from the ECAC qualifying mark, and Granger tied for ninth at 6.47 meters (21' 2.75").
In the 100-meter dash, Garcia and Emekekwue tied for 11th place out of 34 sprinters, each at 11.14 seconds. Junior
Tim Odin (Northport) finished 13th of 46 in the 1,500 meters (4:03.42), followed by freshman
Chris Landi (Merrick/Calhoun) in 17th place (4:04.03).
