CORTLAND, N.Y. – Junior
Emma Hayes-Hurley (Huntington) scored four of her career-high five goals in the second half, including three straight to start a game-changing six-goal run, to help lead the nationally second-ranked Cortland women's lacrosse team to a 14-8 win versus 18th-ranked The College at Brockport in SUNYAC action Tuesday afternoon in cold and windy conditions.

Marilyn Farrell (Fayetteville/Fayetteville-Manlius) recorded one goal and one assist and senior
Jessica Lavelle (Fayetteville/Fayetteville-Manlius) and sophomore
Ashley Gentile (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) each contributed an assist. Lavelle's assist was her first career point.
Sophomore goalie
Liz Ingalls (Centerport/St. Anthony's) made eight saves for Cortland. Gentile led the Red Dragons with four ground balls and seven draw controls, Hayes-Hurley won five draws and Lavelle registered three caused turnovers.
Junior Nina Tassone (Liverpool) led the Golden Eagles (7-4, 1-3 SUNYAC) with four goals and one assist. Freshman Kelly Wall (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) scored twice and added an assist, sophomore Hailey Boronczyk (Syracuse/Corcoran) tallied one goal and one assist, junior Liz Algie (Adams/South Jefferson) netted a goal and sophomore Makensie Schuber (Webster/Webster Thomas) contributed two assists.
Junior goalie Remle Harr (Farmington/Fairport) stopped six shots and collected four ground balls for Brockport. Junior Ciara McKeon (Westhampton/Westhampton Beach) won four draws and junior Colleen Hathaway (Watertown/South Jefferson) caused a game-high four turnovers.
Neither team could find the back of the net until Monaghan scored off a Geremia feed 12 minutes, 42 seconds into the game. After Tassone tied the game two minutes later, Reh and Farrell scored to give Cortland a 3-1 lead at the 11:22 mark. The Golden Eagles answered by scoring four of the final five goals of the first half to grab a 5-4 lead at the break. Boronczyk and Wall tallied goals at 9:48 and 7:15 before Hayes-Hurley netted her first of the game at 6:24 to give Cortland a 4-3 lead. Algie tied the game at 1:22, and Wall snuck a low shot inside the left post with just one second on the clock for the 5-4 Brockport advantage.
After Monaghan tied the game at 5-5 early in the second half, the teams traded the next four goals for a 7-7 tie with 11:54 remaining. Hayes-Hurley then took over, notching three consecutive goals in less than a two-minute span to give Cortland some breathing room at 10-7. The Red Dragons stretched the lead to 13-7 at the 3:05 mark as Ohberg, Geremia and Reh each tallied goals. Tassone stopped the run with her fourth score of the game with 2:32 remaining, but Monaghan finished the scoring on her third of the game with 16 seconds on the clock for the 14-8 final.
