ALBANY, N.Y. and SWARTHMORE, PA. – The Cortland men's track and field team sent a handful of competitors to the University at Albany Purple & Gold Last Chance Meet on Saturday, May 10, and the Swarthmore College Final Qualifier on Monday, May 12.
Two Red Dragons posted ECAC-qualifying performances at the Albany meet.
Chris Landi (Merrick/Calhoun) finished third in the 1,500-meter run (3:58.35) and
Melique Garcia (Watervliet) placed fourth in the 100-meter dash (10.77).
Other highlights included a second-place finish by
Andre Green (Watertown/Indian River) in the long jump (6.69 meters – 21' 10.25"), a seventh-place effort by
Charlie Beeler (Manlius/Fayetteville-Manlius) in the 800 meters (1:57.79) and an eighth-place showing by
Jerel Williams (East Islip) in the 100-meter dash (11.35, 11.29 prelims).
Three Red Dragons competed at Swarthmore.
Tim Odin (Northport) was 27th of 86 runners in the 1,500 meters in 3:55.13.
Connor Ten Eyck (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) placed eighth of 22 in the pole vault at 4.50 meters (14' 9"), while
Bailey Imbo (Bayport/Bayport-Blue Point) finished 44th of 76 in the 800 meters in 1:56.58. Odin's and Ten Eyck's performances were ECAC qualifiers.
Cortland will compete at the ECAC Div. III Championships Thursday and Friday, May 15-16, at RPI in Troy. The NCAA Div. III Championships will be held May 22-24 at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio.
