ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Senior
Ameena Dye (DeWitt/Jamesville-DeWitt) finished 17th in a field of 283 runners to help Cortland place eighth at the University of Rochester Women's Cross Country Yellowjacket Invitational.
Cortland, ranked eighth in the Atlantic region, finished with 188 points, just one point behind two teams tied for sixth. Oneonta won the 22-team event with 69 points, followed by Geneseo (76), RIT (125), Rochester (151), RPI (174), Ithaca and Brockport (187 each), Cortland, and Colgate (190).
Dye crossed the finish line of the 6,000-meter course in 24 minutes, four seconds. Cortland's top seven finishers all placed in the top 25 percent of the field. Junior
Kayla Blomback (Orchard Park) was 34th (24:28), followed by junior
Kailyn Balzano (East Greenbush/Columbia) in 39th place (24:37).

Kerri Culhane (Sayville) turned in a 57th-place finish (24:56). Cortland's next three runners were within four seconds of each other. Junior
Michelyn Little (Voorheesville/Clayton A. Bouton) finished 60th (25:04), sophomore
Allison Schumann was 62nd (25:06) and freshman
Sara Billings (Gansevoort/South Glens Falls) placed 64th (25:08).
Cortland will return to the Rochester area next Saturday when it competes at a meet hosted by Roberts Wesleyan University.
