SOUTH HADLEY, MASS. - The Cortland women's golf team finished seventh out of 15 schools at the two-day Mt. Holyoke Invitational. The tournament was held at The Orchards Golf Club, a previous site of the U.S. Women's Golf Open.

Cortland posted a 349 on Saturday and a 350 on Sunday for a total score of 699. The Red Dragons just edged eighth place Vassar, which finished with a 700 after scoring a 335 Sunday. Williams won the team title with a 623 (322-301), 12 strokes ahead of Ithaca.

Junior Melissa Rath (East Northport/Northport) tied for 11th place out of 87 golfers with a 161. She carded a 78 on the opening day and an 83 during her second round. Junior Carly Peters (St. James/Smithtown East) placed 29th with a 172 (87-85) and senior Samantha Morley (Poughkeepsie/Arlington) was 31st with a 174 (88-86).

Freshman Bri Sovring (Liverpool/Cicero-North Syracuse), as an individual entry, finished 55th (95-93-188) and freshman Taylor O'Halloran (Staten Island/Notre Dame Academy) tied for 61st place (96-96-192). Amherst's Jamie Gracie was the tournament's top finisher with a 148, including an even par 72 on Sunday.

Cortland will host the Martin/Wallace Memorial Tournament on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 27-28, at the Cortland Country Club.
