Sydney Hayward (Trumansburg) added eight kills and five blocks as Cortland opened its SUNYAC women's volleyball schedule with a four-set win over Potsdam. The Red Dragons won by set scores of 25-9, 25-20, 24-26 and 25-17.
Cortland (7-11, 1-0 SUNYAC) will face host Oneonta at 10 a.m. and New Paltz at 12:30 p.m. Saturday to complete the first round of SUNYAC play. Cortland's league action continues with three matches in Cortland Oct. 10-11 and three matches in Plattsburgh Oct. 24-25.

Mary Kelly (Guilderland) finished with six kills and eight blocks, two solos, versus Potsdam. Sophomore
Liz Roberts (Island Park/West Hempstead) totaled 36 assists, 16 digs, two aces and five blocks and sophomore
Melanie McGuirk (Lido Beach/Kellenberg) added 12 digs and three service aces.
Cortland finished with a .159 team attack percentage while limiting the Bears to a .055 percentage.
