ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Cortland women's cross country team finished in 11th place out of 23 schools at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational, hosted by Roberts Wesleyan University.
The Red Dragons finished with 327 points. Cornell won the team title with 32 points, followed by Roberts Wesleyan (52) and Laurentian University of Ontario (57).
Freshman
Megan Wagner (Niskyauna) was the top finisher for Cortland, which rested most of its top runners from the previous three weeks. She finished 54th with a time of 20 minutes, 13 seconds over 5,000 meters. A total of 268 runners competed.
Junior
Jackie Boyce (Schaghticoke/Greenwich) finished 77th in 20:34, freshman
Jenny Messina (Queensbury) was 80th in 20:38 and freshman
Stephanie Carrier (Burnt Hills/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) was 81st in 20:39.
Rounding out Cortland's top seven were junior
Susan Lopez (Syracuse/Westhill) in 86th place (20:44), freshman
Kayla Clements (Shirley/William Floyd) in 100th place (20:56) and junior
Abbey Gray (Homer) in 108th place (21:01). St. Bonaventure's Kerry Caher won the race in 17:34.
Cortland returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 4, at the Lehigh University Paul Short Run.
