ITHACA, N.Y. - Junior Kenya Outram (Brooklyn/Victory Collegiate) won two individual events and was part of a winning relay team to highlight Cortland's performances at the Ithaca College Bomber Invitational.

Outram won the 60-meter hurdles in a field of 27 in 9.35 seconds and beat out 49 other competitors to win the long jump at 5.32 meters (17' 5.5"). Both efforts are ECAC qualifiers. Cortland also won the 4x200-meter relay as sophomore Midge Moore (Massapequa), sophomore Dana Kupiec (Salem), Outram and senior Taylor Hudson (Victor) finished with an ECAC time of 1:45.97.

Outram was one of four top-10 finishers for Cortland in the 60-meter hurdles. Junior Angelique Jean-Charles (Elmont/Valley Stream) finished second with an ECAC time of 9.43 seconds. Hudson was fourth in 9.50 seconds (9.47 in prelims) and freshman Summer Haight (Jamestown) finished 10th (10.12).

Cortland also received ECAC-qualifying outings from senior shot-putter Valerie Vancol (Merrick/Sanford H. Calhoun), who was third of 34 at 11.91 meters (39' 1"), and the 4x400-meter relay of Kupiec, senior Gabrielle Conant (Tully), sophomore Christine LaVoie (Fayetteville/Fayetteville-Manlius) and freshman Sydney Chaffee (Norwich) that finished fourth in 4:06.13.

Moore topped a pack of four Red Dragons who were in the top eight in the 68-sprinter 200-meter dash with a second-place time of 26.73 seconds. Kupiec finished fifth (27.23), Chaffee was seventh (27.38) and junior Kayla Koelbel (Bradford, PA/Kings Park (NY)) placed eighth (27.53). Koelbel also finished fifth of 30 in the 400 meters (1:03.27), followed by freshman Tasha Almonacy (Brentwood) in 10th (1:04.06).

Junior MacKenzie Meehan (Amsterdam) and junior Alex Seymour (Dryden) finished fourth and sixth, respectively, in the pole vault. Both cleared 3.05 meters (10' 0"), with places decided by fewer misses. Hudson finished fifth of 29 in the triple jump with a distance of 10.48 meters (34' 4.75"), followed by freshman Gabby Czerw (Holbrook/Sachem North) in seventh at 10.28 meters (33' 8.75").

Freshman Ebonie Lewis (Holtsville/Sachem East) finished seventh of 52 in the 60-meter dash (8.30, 8.29 in prelims). Three Red Dragons finished in the top 10 out of 27 in the 3,000 meters: junior Kerri Culhane (Sayville) in seventh place (10:55.49), sophomore Allison Schumann (North Salem) in ninth place (11:07.60) and junior Michelyn Little (Voorheesville/Clayton A. Bouton) in 10th place (11:13.25).

Also at Ithaca, Czerw finished eighth in the high jump (1.50 meters - 4' 11"), junior Yuka Tamura (Niigata, Japan/Nagaoka) finished eighth in the 500 meters (1:25.67), and sophomore Diamond Jackson (Farmingville/Sachem East) was 10th in the weight throw (13.01 meters - 42' 8.25"). Cortland did not compete in the multi-event (pentathlon) portion of the Ithaca meet.

In addition, Cortland sent some runners to the Cornell Kane Invitational. Two Red Dragons posted ECAC-qualifying efforts and junior Kailyn Balzano (East Greenbush/Columbia) finished second in the 800 meters (2:16.57) and junior Kayla Blomback (Orchard Park) was second in the mile (5:10.21). Balzano moved up to 10th in the Div. III national rankings in the 800 meters with her effort.

The Red Dragons will send competitors to both the Ithaca Invitational and the New Balance Track & Field Center Meet in New York City next week.
