LEICESTER, MASS. – Seven different players scored goals as the Cortland men's hockey team skated to a 9-4 victory at Becker College Friday afternoon in non-conference action. With the win, the Red Dragons improved to 7-6-2 overall, while the Ice Hawks fell to 4-11.

Senior Nick Zappia (Manlius/Kingston Voyageurs) and sophomore Cassie Garrison (Cortland/Philadelphia Revolution) led Cortland with two goals and one assist each. With his three points, Zappia moved into 15th place in career scoring at Cortland with 89 points on 51 goals and 38 assists. Junior Michael Mascaro (Merrick/NY Apple Core) tallied one goal and two assists, freshmen Andrew McCann (Bowmanville, ON/Wellington Dukes) and Darren McCormick (West Seneca/Buffalo Jr. Sabres) recorded one goal and one assist apiece and seniors Kevin Antonik (Central Islip/New Jersey Hitmen) and junior Brant Sherwood (Rochester/Drayton Valley Thunder) netted one goal.

Freshman Dan Broderick (White Plains/New York PAL Islanders) registered three assists, and senior Jeff Vanzant (Barrie, ON/Peterborough Liftlock Stars) and junior Sam Pinsler (Chicago, IL/Green Mountain Glades) each chipped in with two assists as the Red Dragons improved to 7-2-1 over their last 10 games. Freshman goalie Kollyn Jones (Cazenovia/New York PAL Islanders) turned aside 23 shots to earn his first collegiate win.

Conner Allison paced Becker with one goal and one assist, while Francis Musick, Kyle Godfrey and Bryan Parsons each netted a goal. Six other players recorded one assist apiece. Goalie Eric Sugrue made 26 saves in 29:22 before giving way to Tyler Stepke, who stopped 21 shots over the final 30:38.
