BROCKPORT, N.Y. - Freshman
Jessica Welsh (Hamilton) tallied a pair of goals to lead the Cortland field hockey team to a 3-0 win at Brockport in SUNYAC action Saturday afternoon. The Red Dragons improved to 9-3 overall and 4-0 in the conference with the win. The Golden Eagles dropped to 1-13 and 1-4.
Sophomore
Anna Branch (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) also scored a goal for Cortland with junior
Gabby Stein (Endwell/Maine-Endwell) collecting an assist. Freshman goalie
Kailynne Reinoehl (Lititz, PA/Warwick) did not face a shot on goal in the game.
Goalie Sarah Beam stopped 16 shots for Brockport, and Autumn Swavely recorded a defensive save.
Welsh scored the game winner just 5:37 into the game on a rebound. Branch made it a 2-0 score 12:30 into the second half, finishing off a crossing pass from Stein. Welsh then completed the scoring with her ninth goal of the season at the 63:04 mark on a shot from the left side
