MAHWAH, N.J. – Cortland split two matches during the second day of the Ramapo College Roadrunner Invitational women's volleyball tournament, sweeping Hunter, 25-23, 25-21, 25-12, before being swept by Ramapo, 25-23, 25-12, 25-10.
Ramapo finished the four-team tournament with a 3-0 record, followed by Cortland at 2-1. The Red Dragons are now 8-12 on the season.
Janine Patora (Salt Point/Arlington) led Cortland against Hunter with 13 kills, a .357 attack percentage and three aces.
Samantha Czeczotka (Elwood/John H. Glenn) and
Tracy Singleton (Stony Brook/Ward Melville) each finished with eight kills and
Amanda May (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) had five kills and a .357 attack percentage.
Liz Roberts (Island Park/West Hempstead) dished out 30 assists.
Czeczotka led the squad with 11 digs, followed by Patora, Roberts and
Melanie McGuirk (Lido Beach/Kellenberg) with 10 apiece. McGuirk also served two aces. Singleton and May each finished with four blocks.
Taylor Kerr-Haiduk and Julia Connolly led Hunter (7-9) with eight and six kills, respectively.
Patora paced the Red Dragons in the Ramapo match with nine kills. May had six kills and no errors in 13 attempts for a .462 attack percentage. Czeczotka also put down six kills and added 13 digs. Roberts totaled 20 assists, while McGuirk led the way with 15 digs.
Larysa Iwaskiw finished with 14 kills and 19 digs for Ramapo (12-5). Rachel Selmore added 10 kills and Kaitlin Mac Iver had 33 assists.
Cortland will travel to Ithaca College on Wednesday for a 6 p.m. dual match.
