BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The Brockport men's hockey team used a four-goal second period to erase a 1-0 deficit and skated to a 6-2 win versus Cortland Friday night in the SUNYAC opener for both teams.
Freshman
Shane Bennett (Grand Island/Halton Ravens) scored both of Cortland's goals. Sophomore
Darren McCormick (Buffalo/Buffalo Jr. Sabres) collected two assists, and senior
Sam Pinsler (Chicago, IL/Green Mountain Glades) and freshman
Michael Crowley (Buffalo/Springfield Blues) each recorded one assist. Sophomore goalie
Drew Weigman (Gaithersburg, MD/Northern Cyclones) made 32 saves in 47:58 before giving way to junior
Michael Staversky (Rochester/Rochester Stars), who stopped all eight shots he faced in 12:02.
Chase Nieuwendyk led the Golden Eagles with two goals and two assists, and Jesse Facchini, David Horan, Brian Hurlimann and Zac Sikich each tallied one goal. Chris Luker picked up a pair of assists. Goalie Jared Lockhurst made 30 saves.
