PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - The Cortland men's cross country team finished in fourth place out of 10 schools at the SUNYAC Championships, hosted by SUNY Plattsburgh. Junior
Mitch Ryan (Plattsburgh/Seton Catholic) earned All-SUNYAC honors for the second straight year with his sixth-place individual finish.
Geneseo won the team title with 27 points. Fredonia finished second with 86 points to edge third-place Oneonta (91). Cortland finished with 127 points, 16 better than fifth-place New Paltz.
Ryan covered the 8,000-meter course in 25:14.3, barely behind the fourth and fifth-place finishers and just ahead of the sixth-place runner. Geneseo's Isaac Garcia-Cassani won the race in 25:00.7. Ryan earned second-team all-league honors this year, which go to the sixth through 10th-place finishers. He was a first-team honoree last year with his fifth-place showing. Ryan had already earned a spot in the SUNYAC Cross Country Hall of Fame last year. Those honors go to runners who finish in the top five once, the top 10 twice, or the top 15 three times.
