Red Dragon Men Drop Home Opener to Geneseo Despite Callen's Two Victories

CORTLAND, N.Y. - Senior Reeve Callen (Oswego) won two individual events as the Cortland men's swimming and diving team opened its home schedule with a 217-83 dual-meet loss to defending SUNYAC champion Geneseo.

Callen captured the 200-yard freestyle in 1:46.55 and the 100-yard freestyle in 47.46 seconds. The Red Dragons also narrowly won the 200-yard freestyle relay as junior Dylan Burns (Cornwall), sophomore Brian Cremer (Blue Point/Bayport-Blue Point), freshman Bailey Eigbrett (Avon) and Callen swam the race in 1:28.62, edging Geneseo by six hundredths of a second.

Junior Lee Wade (Holtsville/Sachem East) finished second in 3-meter diving with a score of 274.95 points. The 400-yard medley relay team of Burns, senior Jack Jakubek (Monroe/Monroe-Woodbury), senior Mathew Hasbrouck (New Paltz) and Callen placed second in 3:36.64.

Cortland will travel to Buffalo State for a dual meet on Saturday, Nov. 21, at 1 p.m.
