CORTLAND, N.Y. - The Cortland men's hockey team scored the last three goals of the third period to earn a 5-5 overtime tie versus Fredonia Friday night in SUNYAC action at Alumni Arena. The tie was the fourth consecutive between the two teams as the Red Dragons' record stands at 4-3-3 overall and 1-3-2 in the conference, while Fredonia is 3-4-2 and 2-4-2.

Five different players scored goals for Cortland with sophomore Dray Zack (Rensselaer/Connecticut Oilers) tallying his first career goal and adding an assist. Junior Casie Garrison (Cortland/Philadelphia Revolution), sophomores Dan Broderick (White Plains/New York PAL Islanders) and Darren McCormick (Buffalo/Buffalo Jr. Sabres) and freshman Shane Bennett (Grand Island/Halton Ravens) each netted a goal. Garrison's power-play score tied the game at 5-5 with 8:14 remaining in regulation.  

Senior Sam Pinsler (Chicago, IL/Green Mountain Glades) collected two assists, and seniors Mike Davie (Brooklyn/NY Apple Core), Michael Mascaro (Merrick/NY Apple Core) and Kyle Herring (Valencia, CA/Rochester Stars), sophomore Andrew McCann (Bowmanville, ON/Wellington Dukes) and freshman Zach Felser (Sylvania, OH/Philadelphia Little Flyers) chipped in with one assist apiece for the Red Dragons. Sophomore goalie Drew Weigman (Gaithersburg, MD/Northern Cyclones) made 33 saves.

Freshman Luke Rivera (Pacific Palisades, CA/Hartford Wolfpack) recorded a goal and an assist for Fredonia. Senior Mitch Kaufmann (Red Deer, AB/Canmore), sophomore Samuel Wilbur (Saginaw, MI/Kirkland Lake Gold Miners) and freshmen Kyle Jelinski (Edmonton, AB/Fresno Monsters) and Jimmy Morgan (Highlands Ranch, CO/West Sound Warriors) each scored a goal. Junior Marcus Ortiz (Richardson, TX/Wilkes-Barre Scranton Knights) and freshmen Rich DeMarco (Niagara Falls/Fort Erie Meteors) and Benjamin Casale (Lewiston/Buffalo Jr. Sabres) registered two assists apiece. Senior goalie Jeff Flagler (Owen Sound, ON/Walkertown Jr.) turned aside 32 shots.
