Junior Reeve Callen placed second in the 50 free and swam on two winning relay teams
BUFFALO, N.Y. - The 400-yard medley relay team of sophomore
Dylan Burns (Cornwall), junior
Jack Jakubek (Monroe/Monroe-Woodbury), senior
Brandon McManus (Pittsford/Pittsford Mendon) and junior
Reeve Callen (Oswego) set school, meet and conference records with its winning time of 3:23.82 during the first complete day of competition at the 2015 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Men's Swimming and Diving Championships.
Cortland is in second place in the team standings. Geneseo leads with 262 points, followed by Cortland (179), Fredonia (132), Oneonta (109) and New Paltz (108) in the top five of the nine-team field. The competition continues on Friday and Saturday at the Burt Flickinger Center at Erie Community College.
The foursome broke the school record of 3:26.57 set by Burns, Jakubek.
Mathew Hasbrouck and Callen last year. During the relay, Burns set the school record in the 100-yard backstroke with his opening-leg time of 51.38, breaking the mark of 51.98 set by Judd Simon in 2013. The Red Dragons also took the top spot in the 200-yard freestyle relay as Burns, Callen, senior

Luke Strothenke (New Paltz) posted a winning time of 1:23.97.
Cortland earned three of the top-five spots in the 50-yard freestyle. Callen finished as the runner-up in 21.09. Burns touched the wall in fourth place (21.47, 21.44 preliminaries), and Strothenke placed fifth in 21.66 after posting a time of 21.62 in the preliminaries. Alex Spatzer (Buffalo/Kenmore West) placed fourth in the "B" final (4:54.63, 4:53.37 preliminaries).
Jakubek was sixth in the 200-yard individual medley in 2:00.56 after a preliminary time of 1:58.68. Freshman
Brendin Thompson (Pine Bush) captured first in the "B" final of the event in 1:58.24.
