Cortland Women Fifth at Ramapo Meet; Red Dragons Also Compete at Ithaca

Gabby Czerw finished fourth in the triple jump and fifth in the high jump at the Ithaca Quad Meet
The Cortland women's indoor track and field team tied for fifth place out of 23 schools at the Ramapo Roadrunner Tuneup meet Friday, while also sending competitors that day to the Ithaca College Quad Meet.
 
NEW YORK CITY – Cortland tied for fifth place at the Ramapo Roadrunner Tuneup with 40 points. Ramapo finished with 84 points, followed by The College of New Jersey with 81, Essex Community College with 62 and Monroe College of New York City with 59. Cortland's score was matched by New York City's ASA College. The event was held at the New Balance Track & Field Center at The Armory in Manhattan.
 
Kenya Outram (Brooklyn/Victory Collegiate) and Kayla Koelbel (Bradford, PA/Kings Park (NY)) each registered ECAC-qualifying times in the 60-meter hurdles. Outram finished third of 23 in 9.08 seconds and Koelbel was sixth in 9.22 seconds. Koelbel also finished sixth in the high jump at 1.50 meters (4' 11") and Outram was 19th of 44 in the 200-meter dash in 27.20 seconds.
 
Midge Moore (Massapequa) finished fifth in the 200-meter dash in 26.11 seconds and Dana Kupiec (Salem) was seventh (26.32). Moore also placed 13th of 40 in the 60-meter dash (8.17), with Kupiec tied for 19th (8.32).
 
Melissa Emilio (Oneonta) earned a fourth-place finish out of 23 in the 800 meters (2:26.11) and Megan Wagner (Niskayuna) placed fourth of 18 in the mile (5:29.36). Hannah Graham (Wellsville) and Abbey Gray (Homer) finished fifth (11:17.64) and sixth (11:17.72), respectively, in the 3,000-meter run.
 
Christine LaVoie (Fayetteville/Fayetteville-Manlius) and Gabrielle Conant (Tully) finished in the top seven in the 400-meter dash. LaVoie was sixth of 31 in 1:00.29 and Conant placed seventh in 1:00.38. Angelique Jean-Charles (Elmont/Valley Stream) finished 10th in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.35 seconds.
 
ITHACA, N.Y. – One of Cortland's top highlights at the non-team scoring Ithaca College Quad Meet came in the shot put where both Valerie Vancol (Merrick/Sanford H. Calhoun) and Diamond Jackson (Farmingville/Sachem East) hit ECAC-qualifying standards. Vancol finished second of 18 at 12.58 meters (41' 3.25") and Jackson was third at 11.74 meters (38' 6.25").
 
Two Red Dragons won events at the meet. Sydney Chaffee (Norwich) captured the 400-meter dash (1:00.28) and Nicole Hoffman (Farmingdale) won the high jump at 1.50 meters (4' 11"). Summer Haight (Jamestown) finished second of 14 in the 60-meter hurdles (9.54) and Dana Messina (East Meadow) was third in the 200-meter dash (27.15).
 
Cortland took four of the top seven spots in the triple jump. Gabby Czerw (Holbrook/Sachem North) was fourth at 10.37 meters (34' 0.25"), Whitney Ford (Oswego) finished fifth at 10.32 meters (33' 10.25"), Brianna Callahan (Conklin/Susquehanna Valley) placed sixth at 10.06 meters (33' 0.25") and Shai'an Irving (Brooklyn/Clara Barton) was seventh at 9.97 meters (32' 8.5"). Czerw also finished fifth in the high jump at 1.45 meters (4' 9").
 
Brenda Perrella (Hamburg/Frontier) was fourth in the shot put (11.56 meters – 37' 11.25") and Tasha Almonacy (Brentwood) finished fifth in the 400-meter dash (1:02.57). Sarah Shellard (Victor) placed sixth in the 60-meter hurdles (10.07, 9.99 in prelims).
 
In the pole vault, Alex Seymour (Dryden), Nicole Piccinich (Emerson, NJ) and Mackenzie Meehan (Amsterdam) all cleared 3.05 meters (10' 0"). Due to number of misses, Seymour and Piccinich tied for sixth and Meehan finished eighth. In the long jump, Katie Ellsworth (Suffern) finished sixth at 5.13 meters (16' 10") and Hoffman placed seventh at 5.07 meters (16' 7.75").
 
Mandy Sacca (Latham/Shaker) and Jackie Boyce (Greenwich) finished seventh (2:31.49) and eighth (2:32.20) in the 800 meters. Ebonie Lewis (Holtsville/Sachem East) was seventh in the 60-meter dash (8.19) and Kenia Ozoria (Union City, NJ) finished 10th in the 200-meter dash (28.40).
