Hudson's Jumps Highlight Cortland's Deneault Memorial Appearance

Michelyn Little finished eighth in the 3,000-meter run with an ECAC-qualifying time of 10:36.86
ITHACA, N.Y. – Taylor Hudson (Victor) tied her own school record in the high jump and recorded two national top-five ranking performances at the Cornell University Deneault Memorial women's indoor track and field meet.

The Red Dragons sent only a small portion of the team to the event since much of the squad participated Friday at either the Ithaca Quad Meet or the Ramapo Roadrunner Tuneup.

Hudson finished second in the high jump with a height of 1.70 meters (5' 7"), matching her school indoor record accomplished earlier this season as well as last year. She ranks third nationally in Div. III in the event. Hudson also placed third of 20 in the long jump at 5.68 meters (18' 7.75"), a personal indoor best and currently ranked fourth nationally.

Hudson's efforts were two of Cortland's four ECAC qualifiers at the meet. Kailyn Balzano (East Greenbush/Columbia) finished seventh of 42 in the mile in 5:04.07 and Michelyn Little (Voorheesville/Clayton A. Bouton) was eighth of 28 in the 3,000 meters in 10:36.86. Also in that race, Kerri Culhane (Sayville) finished 10th in 10:42.96, but missed ECAC qualifying by about six seconds.

Cortland will compete at the SUNYAC Indoor Championships Friday and Saturday, Feb. 27-28, at Brockport. The Red Dragons are the three-time defending league champion.
