Connor Ten Eyck (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) and sophomore
Kyle Bettex (East Meadow) recorded Cortland's ECAC-qualifying performances at the Ithaca College Invitational.
Ten Eyck finished second of 19 in the pole vault with a height of 4.50 meters (14' 9"). Bettex placed third of 19 in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.52 seconds.
Ten Eyck was one of three Red Dragons in the top six in the pole vault. Freshman
Charlie Kollmer (Mount Sinai) finished third at 4.35 meters (14' 3.25") and sophomore
Corey Fitchett (East Islip) was sixth at 4.05 meters (13' 3.5").
Sophomore
Kenenna Emekekwue (Elmont/Sewanhaka) finished fifth of 41 in the 200-meter dash in 23.40 seconds, with Bettex 12th in 23.83 seconds. Junior
Nate Ashton (Norwich) was seventh of 41 in the 800 meters (2:01.40) and sophomore
Luke Barnes (Waterville) placed seventh of 18 in the long jump at 6.34 meters (20' 9.75").
Other Red Dragon highlights included freshman
Jesse Perrone (East Syracuse/East Syracuse Minoa) with an eight-place time of 4:36.06 in the mile and sophomore
Phil Lucien (Garnerville/North Rockland) and sophomore
Tyler May (Elbridge/Jordan-Elbridge) placing 10th and 12th, respectively, of 27 in the shot put. Lucien recorded a distance of 12.30 meters (40' 4.25") and May's best attempt was 12.00 meters (39' 4.5").
Cortland will send competitors to the Boston University Valentine Invitational next Friday-Saturday, Feb. 13-14, and the Cornell Sunday Invitational on Feb. 15.
