Red Dragon Men Compete at Moravian, Bucknell and Nazareth Meets

Romain Saint Germain ran a leg on the winning 4x100-meter relay team and finished sixth in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes at Moravian
The Cortland men's outdoor track and field team sent a majority of its competitors to the Moravian College Coach P Open, although the Red Dragons also had throwers competing at Nazareth's Roc City Classic and some distance runners at the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic. None of the three events featured team scoring. Cortland posted six ECAC qualifying efforts at Moravian and one at Bucknell.

The Red Dragons are scheduled to host the Cortland Classic Friday and Saturday, April 17-18.

BETHLEHEM, PA. – Cortland's top highlight at Moravian was a victory by the 4x100-meter relay team with an ECAC time of 42.24 seconds. The relay consisted of junior Jerel Williams (East Islip), junior Romain Saint Germain (Westbury), sophomore Kenenna Emekekwue (Elmont/Sewanhaka) and senior Melique Garcia (Watervliet).

Williams finished third in the 400 meters (49.53) and Garcia was third in the 100-meter dash (10.85). Senior Nick Avossa (Kingston) placed fourth in the 110-meter hurdles (15.48), with sophomore Connor Christopherson (Morrisonville/Saranac) fifth (15.58, 15.52 prelims). Freshman Dawan Jones (Buffalo/Tapestry Charter) finished fourth in the triple jump (13.74 meters – 45' 1") and sophomore Nick Vachon (Endwell/Maine-Endwell) ended fifth in the high jump (1.93 meters – 6' 4"). All of the above performances were ECAC qualifiers.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Red Dragon throwers posted four top-10 finishes at Nazareth. Sophomore Phil Lucien (Garnerville/North Rockland) was seventh in the shot put at 12.87 meters (42' 2.75") and ninth in the discus at 36.92 meters (121' 1"). Junior Dante Binotto III (Canajoharie) finished seventh in the javelin with a throw of 46.32 meters (152' 0") and junior Kyle Howe (Scipio Center/Southern Cayuga) placed 10th in the shot put at 12.37 meters (40' 7").

LEWISBURG, PA. – Senior Nick Marcantonio (Glens Falls) was Cortland's lone ECAC qualifier at Bucknell with a 13th-place time of 30:30.86 in the 10,000-meter run invitational race. He currently ranks third nationally in Division III with that time.
