POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Cortland women's golf team finished in ninth place out of 12 schools at the two-day Vassar Invitational. The tournament was held at the Casperkill Golf Club.

The Red Dragons scored a 350 Saturday and a 345 Sunday for a final score of 695. Williams won the team title with a 617 (306-311).

Carly Peters (St. James/Smithtown East) was Cortland's top finisher with a 19th-place score of 166. She carded an 81 the opening day and an 85 in the second round. Melissa Rath (East Northport/Northport) tied for 28th in the 66-golfer field with a 172 (88-84) and Samantha Morley (Poughkeepsie/Arlington) tied for 38th with a 177 (92-85).

Rounding out Cortland's contingent were Anna Haley (Drexel Hill, PA/Bonner & Prendergast) with a 182 (89-93) to tie for 46th place and Taylor O'Halloran (Staten Island/Notre Dame Academy) with a 187 (96-91) to finish 55th. Shelby Shote of Williams was tournament medalist with a 148 (73-75).

Cortland will compete next weekend at the Amherst College Jack Leaman Invitational.
