Samantha Morley Ties for Seventh at Amherst Tournament

Samantha Morley tied for seventh place at the one-day tournament with a six-over-par 80.
AMHERST, MASS. – The Cortland women's golf team finished eighth out of 10 teams at the Jack Leaman Championship, hosted by Amherst College.

The tournament was originally scheduled for two days, but was changed to a one-day event at the Hickory Ridge Country Club due to the course for Sunday's play not being open yet.

Cortland finished with a 342, just one stroke behind Vassar and seven strokes behind Amherst. Ithaca won the team title with a 324, with Middlebury and Williams tying for second at 325 each.

Senior Samantha Morley (Poughkeepsie/Arlington) tied for seventh place in a field of 64 golfers with an 80 on the par-74, 5,895-yard layout. Jordan Glatt of Middlebury was the top individual with a 74.

Junior Carly Peters (St. James/Smithtown East) tied for 20th place with an 84 and junior Melissa Rath (East Northport/Northport) placed 34th with an 87. Freshman Taylor O'Halloran (Staten Island/Notre Dame Academy) tied for 35th (88) as an individual entry, and freshman Bri Sovring (Liverpool/Cicero-North Syracuse) tied for 44th (91).

Cortland will complete its spring regular-season schedule on April 25-26 at the Ithaca College Invitational.
