ITHACA, N.Y. – Melique Garcia (Watervliet) and Dawan Jones (Buffalo/Tapestry Charter) each recorded two of Cortland's 11 individual ECAC-qualifying performances at the Cornell University Big Red Invitational men's outdoor track and field meet.

Garcia won the 100-meter dash in a field of 30 competitors in 10.78 seconds and was second of 27 in the 200-meter dash in 21.92 seconds. Jones finished third in the long jump at 6.84 meters (22' 5.25") and fifth in the triple jump at 13.88 meters (45' 6.5").

Jimmy Moyer (Oneida) finished second in the long jump at 6.99 meters (22' 11.25") and Mike Cruz (West Haverstraw/North Rockland) placed fifth at 6.83 meters (22' 5"). Phil Lucien (Garnerville/North Rockland) finished second in the discus at 43.78 meters (143' 8") and Nick Vachon (Endwell/Maine-Endwell) was fourth in the high jump at 1.99 meters (6' 6.25").

Cortland also boasted two ECAC qualifiers in the 110-meter hurdles with Nick Avossa (Kingston) finishing fourth (15.18) and Connor Christopherson (Morrisonville/Saranac) fifth (15.26). Romain Saint Germain (Westbury) hit an ECAC mark in the 100-meter dash (sixth-place 11.03 seconds), as did the Red Dragons' winning 4x100-meter relay of Jerel Williams (East Islip), Saint Germain, Kenenna Emekekwue (Elmont/Sewanhaka) and Garcia (42.03).

Cortland will compete at the SUNYAC Outdoor Championships Friday and Saturday, May 1-2, at Brockport.
