SPRINGFIELD, MASS. – The Cortland women's outdoor track and field team finished in 13th place out of 56 schools at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Div. III Championships Thursday and Friday at Springfield College.
Cortland registered top-eight All-ECAC finishes in three individual events and one relay. The Red Dragons finished with 20.5 points, with MIT winning the team title with 64 points.
Kailyn Balzano (East Greenbush/Columbia) finished second in the 800-meter run in 2:13.16.
Taylor Hudson (Victor) tied for third in the high jump after clearing 1.65 meters (5' 5") and the 4x100-meter relay team of
Midge Moore (Massapequa),
Dana Kupiec (Salem),
Dana Messina (East Meadow) and Hudson placed fifth in 48.16 seconds.
Kayla Koelbel (Bradford, PA/Kings Park (NY)) finished sixth in the heptathlon with 3,928 points. She scored 749 points in the 100-meter hurdles (15.72) and 720 points in the 200-meter dash (26.90).
Also for the Red Dragons,
Angelique Jean-Charles (Elmont/Valley Stream) finished 11th in the 100-meter hurdles in 15.04 seconds.
Cortland will compete at the NCAA Div. III Championships next Thursday through Saturday, May 21-23, at St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y. For the women, the top 22 performers nationally in each individual event, and the top 16 relays, qualify for nationals. Currently, Hudson ranks 12th nationally in the long jump and 15th in the high jump. The final NCAA participant list will be announced on Sunday.
