Garcia and Shinn All-Americans With Fourth-Place Efforts; Cortland Tied 24th as Team

Joe Shinn finished fourth in the 110-meter hurdles in 14.12 seconds to earn All-America honors
CANTON, N.Y. - Melique Garcia (Watervliet) finsihed fourth in the 100-meter dash and Joe Shinn (New Rochelle) placed fourth in the 110-meter hurdles to earn All-America honors during the final day of the NCAA Div. III Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The three-day meet was hosted by St. Lawrence University.

Cortland tied for 24th place in the final team standings with 10 points. Wisconsin-La Crosse won the team crown with 71 points.

Garcia turned in a time of 10.32 seconds in the 100-meter dash. Bruce Gray of Greenville won the race in 10.24 seconds. The top eight finishers are All-Americans. Garcia finishes as a three-time All-American - he was a 200-meter dash All-American indoors in both 2014 and 2015.

Shinn and Aurora's Bobby Cooks each recorded a time of 14.12 seconds. Fourth place was decided by going to thousandths of a second, with Shinn at 14.112 and Cooks at 14.114. Luke Campbell of Salisbury won the race in 13.63 seconds. Shinn earned his second All-America award - he was eighth indoors in the 60-meter hurdles this past winter.

Jarred Iacovelli (Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Regional) just missed All-America honors in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a ninth-place time of 9:07.91. Dawson Miller of Wisconsin-Whitewater won in 8:46.58.
