Ten ECAC Marks for Cortland Women at Albany Purple & Gold Meet

Angelique Jean-Charles finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles
ALBANY, N.Y. – Taylor Hudson (Victor) moved onto the national qualifying list in the high jump with one of Cortland's 10 ECAC-qualifying performances at the University at Albany Purple & Gold Last Chance Meet Friday and Saturday.

The Red Dragons recently added the meet to their schedule due to weather affecting their competition dates earlier this spring. Cortland will compete at the ECAC Div. III Championships Thursday and Friday, May 14-15, at Springfield College. The NCAA Div. III Championships will be held May 21-23 at St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y.

Hudson won the high jump at Albany with a height of 1.69 meters (5' 6.5") that currently ranks 14th nationally in Div. III. She was one of three athletes to clear that height, but finished first due to having fewer misses at the tied height than the other competitors.

Alex Seymour (Dryden) finished second in the pole vault by clearing 3.40 meters (11' 1.75"). Valerie Vancol (Merrick/Sanford H. Calhoun) was second in the shot put at 12.31 meters (40' 4.75") and sixth in the discus at 39.62 meters (130' 0").

Angelique Jean-Charles (Elmont/Valley Stream) finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles (15.08) and Diamond Jackson (Farmingville/Sachem East) ended fourth in the discus (41.86 meters - 137' 4"). Midge Moore (Massapequa) placed fifth in the 200-meter dash (25.63), Kailyn Balzano (East Greenbush/Columbia) was fifth in the 800 meters (2:16.09) and Kenya Outram (Brooklyn/Victory Collegiate) finished seventh in the 100-meter hurdles (16.27, 15.01 in prelims).

The 4x100-meter relay team of Moore, Dana Kupiec (Salem), Dana Messina (East Meadow) and Hudson placed third in 48.71 seconds. All of the performances mentioned above are ECAC qualifiers.

For the women, the top 22 qualifiers nationally in each individual event and the top 16 relays qualify for nationals. In addition to Hudson in the high jump, Cortland athletes currently in the top 22, from previous performances, include: Hudson, 11th, Long Jump (5.72 meters - 18' 9.25"), and Balzano, 20th, 800 meters (2:12.11).
