CORTLAND, N.Y. - Five different players scored a goal as the Cortland men's hockey team closed the non-conference portion of its schedule with a 5-2 win versus Div. II Assumption College Friday night at Alumni Arena. The Red Dragons won their third straight game and improved to 7-6-3 on the season, while the Greyhounds fell to 7-7-2.

Sophomores Darren McCormick (Buffalo/Buffalo Jr. Sabres), Dan Broderick (White Plains/New York PAL Islanders), Andrew McCann (Bowmanville, ON/Wellington Dukes) and Dray Zack (Rensselaer/Connecticut Oilers) each recorded one goal and one assist for Cortland, and six others collected one assist apiece. Sophomore goalie Drew Weigman (Gaithersburg, MD/Northern Cyclones) registered 37 saves.

Junior Stephen Picard (Enfield, CT/Loomis Chaffee) and Kevin Murphy (Kearsarge, NH/Kennett) netted the goals for Assumption. Senior Pat Trainor (Auburn, MA/New Hampton), sophomore Matt Cowles (Farmington, CT/Avon Old Farms) and freshman Dante Tomassini (North Branford, CT/Trinity Pawling) recorded one assist apiece. Junior goalie Nick Commesso (Marshfield, MA/The Governor's Academy) made 42 saves.
