GENESEO, N.Y. – Anthony Marra scored two goals and Devin McDonald turned away 26 of the 27 shots on goal he faced as nationally 12th-ranked Geneseo defeated Cortland, 6-1, in a SUNYAC contest.
The Knights improved to 11-3-3 overall and 5-1-2 in league play. Cortland is now 7-8-3 overall and 1-6-2 in the SUNYAC.

Drew Weigman (Gaithersburg, MD/Northern Cyclones) made 41 saves for the Red Dragons - 10 in each of the first two periods and 21 in the third.
Geneseo led 1-0 after the first period on a goal by Trevor Hills 13:22 into the period. The Knights extended the lead to 2-0 on a Matt Solomon shorthanded goal 2:19 into the second.
Cortland cut its deficit to 2-1 on
Dan Broderick's (White Plains/New York PAL Islanders) power-play goal 7:07 into the second, assisted by
Sam Pinsler (Chicago, IL/Green Mountain Glades) and
Dray Zack (Rensselaer/Connecticut Oilers). Marra, however, scored twice in the next 3:05, the latter goal on a power play, to give the hosts a 4-1 lead after two periods.
RJ Burns and Sotiris Athanasopoulos added third-period goals. Stephen Collins finished with three assists, while Jack Ceglarski and David Ripple each notched two assists.
Cortland will travel to Oswego next Friday, January 29, for a 7 p.m. SUNYAC game.
