Cortland Men Drop 130-103 Dual-Meet Decision at Div. II Le Moyne

Dylan Burns won the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke races
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Dylan Burns (Cornwall) won two events and led off a winning relay effort during Cortland's 130-103 dual-meet loss at Division II Le Moyne College in men's swimming and diving action.

Burns won the 50-yard freestyle in 22.11 seconds and the 100-yard backstroke in 54.61 seconds. He teamed with Jack Jakubek (Monroe/Monroe-Woodbury), Mathew Hasbrouck (New Paltz) and Reeve Callen (Oswego) to win the 200-yard medley relay in 1:37.28, less than two tenths of a second faster than the Dolphins' top entry.

Lee Wade (Holtsville/Sachem East) registered an 11-dive score of 423.75 points in 1-meter diving. There is only a 1-meter board at Le Moyne's pool, so for scoring purposes his dives were broken into two "events" of six and five dives, and he officially finished first in one event (238.10 points) and second in another (185.65 points).

Brian Cremer (Blue Point/Bayport-Blue Point) finished second in the 1,650-yard freestyle (18:25.94) and Tim Thatcher (Staten Island/St. Peter's Boys) was second in the 100-yard freestyle (50.93). Jakubek was the second-fastest swimmer, behind a Le Moyne exhibition entry, in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:01.38). Also, the tandem of Thatcher, Hasbrouck, Cremer and Bailey Eigbrett (Avon) finished second in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:30.86).

Cortland will compete in a dual meet at Oneonta next Saturday, January 30, at 1 p.m.
