Cortland Women Defeated at Div. II Le Moyne; Fergus Sets Pool Diving Record

Chloe Freideman posted the second-fastest time in the 100-yard breaststroke
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Chelsey Simon (Oneida) and Elizabeth Connolly (Lockport) each won swimming events and Miranda Fergus (Millbrook) was victorious in diving in Cortland's 138-100 women's swimming and diving dual-meet loss at Division II Le Moyne College.

Simon won the 100-yard butterfly in 1:01.40, edging her nearest opponent by a tenth of a second. Connolly took the 100-yard freestyle in 55.32 seconds and was second in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:02.57.

Fergus set a pool record with her 11-dive total score of 449.30 points. There is only a 1-meter board at Le Moyne's pool, so for scoring purposes Fergus' 11 dives were broken into two "events" of six and five dives, and she scored first-place points in both events (270.50 and 178.80 points).

Amanda Grossman (Schaghticoke/Hoosic Valley) was second in the 100-yard backstroke (1:04.55) and Chloe Freideman (Whitney Point) registered the second-fastest time in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:14.62) behind a Le Moyne exhibition entry.

Cortland finished second in both relays. Natalie Johnson (Canandaigua/Marcus Whitman), Kelly Lambkin (Monroe/Monroe-Woodbury), Simon and Grossman were clocked at 1:57.46 in the 200-yard medley relay, while Connolly, Emily McGurk (Monroe/Monroe-Woodbury), Simon and Grossman finished the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:44.43, just 0.07 seconds behind a Le Moyne exhibition entry.
