Red Dragons Set 400 Medley Relay Pool Record in Dual-Meet Loss at Oneonta

Kaleil Balmir was the top performer in 1-meter diving with an 11-dive score of 370.95 points
ONEONTA, N.Y. – Cortland set an Oneonta pool record in the 400-yard medley relay during its 120-107 dual-meet loss to the host Red Dragons. Dylan Burns (Cornwall), Jack Jakubek (Monroe/Monroe-Woodbury), Mathew Hasbrouck (New Paltz) and Reeve Callen (Oswego) set the mark with their winning time of 3:37.04.

Burns also earned two individual victories with times of 22.05 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle and 53.73 seconds in the 100-yard backstroke. Brian Cremer (Blue Point/Bayport-Blue Point) won the 100-yard freestyle (49.59) and finished second in the 200-yard freestyle (1:50.11), and Kaleil Balmir (Farmingdale) was the top 1-meter diver with an 11-dive total of 370.95 points.

Tim Thatcher (Staten Island/St. Peter's Boys) finished second in both the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:45.71) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:07.75). Hasbrouck was second in the 100-yard butterfly (53.77) and Jakubek placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:00.61). In addition, the 200-yard freestyle relay team of Adam Kirchgessner (Irondequoit/West Irondequoit), Jakubek, Paddy Thompson (Middletown/Pine Bush) and Eric Kohlhoff (West Islip) placed second in 1:33.16.

Cortland will conclude its regular-season schedule on Saturday, Feb. 6, at Fredonia at 1 p.m.
