Volleyball Finishes 3-1 at Houghton Invitational to Close Season at 20-Win Mark

HOUGHTON, N.Y. - The Cortland women's volleyball finished 3-1 at the two-day Houghton College Highlander Invitational and reached the 20-win mark for the second straight season with straight-set wins over Houghton and Keuka on Saturday. The Red Dragons finish the season with a 20-14 record. The program has won at least 20 matches 31 times since 1984.

Cortland defeated Houghton, 25-23, 25-20, 25-20, and swept Keuka, 25-19, 25-12, 25-16.

Senior Samantha Czeczotka (Elwood/John H. Glenn) and sophomore Alexandra Graff (Apex, NC) were named to the all-tournament team. Czeczotka, Cortland's lone senior, totaled nine digs and two blocks against Houghton and had five kills, four aces and three digs against Keuka. Graff led the Red Dragons with 11 digs versus Houghton and 16 digs in the Keuka match.

Courtney Silberer (Centereach) posted nine kills and one error in 16 attempts for a .500 attack percentage in the opener and had six kills and four blocks in the win over Keuka. Nicole Silberer (Centereach) totaled seven kills against Houghton and five versus Keuka.

Sarah Piacentini (Webster/Webster Schroeder) recorded 22 assists, three aces and 10 digs in the first match and 31 assists, three aces and five digs in the second. Amanda May (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) had six kills with no errors in seven attempts (.857 attack pct.) and Maria Gelyon (West Seneca/Immaculata Academy) added five kills and no errors in eight attempts (.625 attack pct.) against Keuka.

Ally Bittinger led Houghton (13-14) with nine kills and Jadine Buddingh had nine kills and seven digs for Keuka (13-14).
