CLINTON, N.Y. – Cortland's men's cross country team finished third out of 14 teams at the Hamilton Invitational Saturday morning. The host Continentals captured the team title with 43 points, followed by East Stroudsburg also with 43 points, Cortland with 89 points, Utica with 99 points and Le Moyne with 102 points. A total of 15 schools competed at the meet.
Senior
Mitch Ryan (Plattsburgh/Seton Catholic) was Cortland's top finisher, placing seventh with a time of 26:13.9 over the 8,000-meter course. Senior Alec Lederer of east Stroudsburg won the race in 25:12.3.
A pair of freshmen,
Nolan Vest (Coram/Longwood) and
Cabel McCandless (Lindenhurst), finished 14th and 15th, respectively. Vest posted a time of 26:40.2, while McCandless finished in 26:41.2.
Junior
Aaron Granger (Delevan/Pioneer) was Cortland's fourth scorer, crossing the finish line in 24th place with a time of 27:01.3. Freshman
Andrew Boyce (Cortland) completed the Red Dragon scoring contingent with a 29th-place showing in 27:09.6.
Rounding out Cortland's top seven were sophomore
Grant Boyd (Newburgh/Newburgh Free Academy) in 38th place (27:28.7) and freshman
Brandon Bogert (Lake Katrine/Kingston) in 50th place (28:00.2).
