CORTLAND, N.Y. – Five Red Dragons were double event winners as Cortland defeated Buffalo State, 151-69, in women's swimming and diving dual meet action at Holsten Pool.
Natalie Johnson (Canandaigua/Marcus Whitman) won the 200-yard freestyle (2:08.49) and 50-yard freestyle (26.06), and
Rachel Noach (White Plains) won the 100-yard backstroke (1:05.62) and 200-yard backstroke (2:22.26), the latter as an exhibition entry.
Angelica Ford (Elk Grove Village, IL/Elk Grove) won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:11.89) and had the best time in the 200-yard individual medley (2:20.73) as an exhibition entry. She was also second in the 500-yard freestyle (5:37.74) in an exhibition role.
Erica Koumas (East Meadow) touched the wall first in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:25.56) and the 100-yard butterfly (1:04.51), with the second of those two as an exhibition swimmer.
Caroline Tighe (East Meadow) won both 3-meter (233.90 points) and 1-meter (233.30 points) diving.
Cortland's other event winners were
Lauren McBrinn (Suffern/Paramus Catholic (NJ)) in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:47.41),
Kelly Davey (Plattsburgh) in the 100-yard freestyle (57.77),
Kelly Lambkin (Monroe/Monroe-Woodbury) in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:40.04, exhibition) and
Emily McGurk (Monroe/Monroe-Woodbury) in the 500-yard freestyle (5:34.08, exhibition). McBrinn was also second in the 200-yard backstroke (2:28.26, exhibition) and McGurk was second in teh 50-yard freestyle (26.54).
Cortland started the day with a win by Johnson,
Emma Gulbin (Wall Township, NJ/Wall),
Kalee Walden (Dryden) and Davey in the 200-yard medley relay (1:56.66), and the Red Dragons closed the meet with an exhibition win by Walden, Johnson, Davey and McGurk in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:45.96).
Cortland returns to action December 2-3 at the Hamilton College Invitational.
