GENESEO, N.Y. – Seven different players scored goals as the nationally fourth-ranked Geneseo men's hockey team defeated Cortland, 11-2, in the SUNYAC opener for both teams Friday night. The Red Dragons fell to 1-2 overall with the loss, while the Knights, a Div. III "Final Four" team last season, improved to 2-0.

Darren McCormick (Buffalo/Buffalo Jr. Sabres) and
Paul Fregeau (Los Angeles, CA/Des Moines Buccaneers) scored goals for Cortland. Freshmen
Tony DeVito (Chicago, IL/New Jersey Titans),
Aidan Salerno (East Atlantic Beach/Soo Thunderbirds) and
Stefano Alonzi (Maple, ON/Burlington Cougars) each recorded an assist. Junior goalie
Drew Weigman (Annapolis, MD/Northern Cyclones) made 30 saves in 42:43 before giving way to freshman
Nick Modica (Sloatsburg/New Jersey Hitmen), who stopped five shots in 17:17.
Conlan Keenan led Geneseo with three goals. Stephen Collins tallied five points on two goals and three assists. Trevor Hills recorded two goals and two assists, and R.J. Burns, Devin Brink and Sotin Athanasopoulos contributed one goal and one assist apiece. Goalie Devon McDonald made 20 saves in 42:43, and Matt Leon turned aside nine shots in 17:17.
