CORTLAND, N.Y. –
Lee Wade (Holtsville/Sachem East) won both diving events and
Tim Drake (Pittsford/Pittsford Mendon) and
Dylan Burns (Cornwall) each posted individual victories as the Cortland men's swimming and diving team lost to Ithaca, 182.5-105.5, in the Red Dragons' home opener.
Wade scored 286.10 points to win 3-meter diving and 256.80 points to place first on the 1-meter board. Drake won the 1,000-yard freestyle in 10:39.55, along with a second-place time of 5:11.02 in the 500-yard freestyle, while Burns won the 100-yard backstroke in 55.37 seconds.
Brian Cremer (Blue Point/Bayport-Blue Point) and
Tim Rokos (Duanesburg) each recorded a pair of runner-up finishes. Cremer was second in the 200-yard freestyle (1:50.88) and 100-yard freestyle (50.35), while Rokos was second in the 200-yard backstroke (2:04.39) and 200-yard individual medley (2:07.67).
Adam Kirchgessner (West Irondequoit) placed second in the 200-yard butterfly (2:09.66) and
Bailey Eigbrett (Avon) finished second in the 50-yard freestyle (23.07).
Noah Farmer (New Hartford) also earned a second-place finish with his time of 2:19.18 in the 200-yard breaststroke.
The Red Dragons finished second in both relays. Burns, Farmer, Eigbrett and Cremer finished the 200-yard medley relay in 1:40.32, while Burns, Eigbrett,
Tim Thatcher (Staten Island/St. Peter's Boys) and Cremer clocked in at 3:23.42 in the 400-yard freestyle relay.
Cortland will travel to Geneseo next Saturday for a 1 p.m. dual meet.
