CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Cortland women's swimming and diving team opened its home schedule with a 217.5-82.5 dual-meet loss to Ithaca College.
Natalie Johnson (Canandaigua/Marcus Whitman) earned two of Cortland's five individual runner-up finishes at the meet. She was second in the 100-yard backstroke (1:03.69) and the 100-yard butterfly (1:02.67).
Alana Szewczyk (South Wales/Holland) placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:12.99) and
Emily McGurk (Monroe/Monroe-Woodbury) was second in the 200-yard butterfly (2:23.62).
Angelica Ford (Elk Grove Village, IL/Elk Grove) also turned in a runner-up showing with a time of 2:18.08 in the 200-yard backstroke.
The Red Dragons closed the meet with a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay as Johnson, McGurk,
Kalee Walden (Dryden) and
Becca Kanoza (Syracuse/West Genesee) registered a time of 1:45.73.
Cortland will travel to Geneseo next Saturday for a 1 p.m. dual meet.
