ROCHESTER, N.Y. –
Dana Kupiec (Salem) and
Midge Moore (Massapequa) each recorded two ECAC-qualifying times that rank in the top 15 nationally to lead Cortland's performances at the RIT Early Season Invitational.
Kupiec won the 400-meter dash out of 14 competitors in 1:00.17, which currently ranks sixth nationally in Division III. She was also second of 21 in the 200-meter dash in 26.54, which ranks 10th nationally.
Moore placed second out of 17 in the 60-meter dash in 8.02 seconds and third in the 200-meter dash in 26.59 seconds. She's currently ranked 19th nationally in the 60 and 13th in the 200.
Other highlights for the Red Dragons included
Madison Herbert (Kings Park) finishing sixth in the 400-meter dash (1:03.58) and ninth in the 200-meter dash (28.77),
Kailey Merrill (Corning/Corning-Painted Post) placing fifth in the 400 (1:03.14), and
Jackie Guzman (Ronkonkoma/Connetquot) clearing 2.95 meters (9' 8") to finish fourth out of 14 in the pole vault.
Cortland will send competitors to the Lehigh University Fast Times Before Finals Meet on Friday-Saturday, December 9-10, to wrap up its first semester schedule.
