Jack Flood and Storm Malone Earn Weekly ECAC Track and Field Honors

Cortland junior Jack Flood (Blue Point/Bayport-Blue Point) and freshman Storm Malone (Harrison/Highland) have been named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Upstate New York Men's Track and Field Athlete of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively, for the week ending February 7.

Flood set a school record in the heptathlon with a winning score of 5,054 points at the Ithaca College Bomber Invitational and Multi last Saturday and Sunday. He eclipsed his own school record of 4,923 points set in early December and currently ranks first nationally in Div. III. Flood recorded three ECAC qualifiers during the competition with a long jump of 6.85 meters (22' 5.75"), a high jump of 2.00 meters (6' 6.75"), and a 60-meter hurdle time of 8.56 seconds.

Malone won the 60-meter hurdles in a field of 33 competitors at Ithaca on Saturday. After posting a time of 8.62 seconds in prelims, he won in the finals with an ECAC-qualifying time of 8.43 seconds.

The weather-themed "Flood and Storm" duo, along with their teammates, are scheduled to compete this weekend at either the Boston University Valentine Invitational Feb. 12-13 or the Cornell University Sunday Invitational Feb. 14.
