Reeve Callen was the 50-yard freestyle runner-up to earn second team All-SUNYAC honors
BUFFALO, N.Y. – Senior
Reeve Callen (Oswego) finished second in the 50-yard freestyle and anchored Cortland's runner-up 400-yard medley relay team to highlight the Red Dragons' performances during the first full day of competition at the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Men's Swimming and Diving Championships.
Cortland is currently in fourth place in the team standings but is in a tight battle with two other schools for the second through fourth spots with two days remaining. Geneseo leads the meet with 323 points, followed by Fredonia (141), New Paltz (139) and Cortland (135). Oneonta is fifth (97), with Buffalo State (87), Brockport (72), Oswego (70) and Potsdam (60) rounding out the field. The competition is being held at Erie Community College's Burt Flickinger Center.
Callen finished second in the 50-yard freestyle in 21.01 seconds. The second and third-place finishers in each individual event earn second team All-SUNYAC honors.

Mathew Hasbrouck (New Paltz) and Callen finished second in the 400-yard medley relay in 3:23.97. Cortland finished fourth in the 200-yard freestyle relay as Burns, freshman
Paddy Thompson (Middletown/Pine Bush), freshman
Bailey Eigbrett (Avon) and Hasbrouck were clocked at 1:25.48.
Hasbrouck placed seventh in the 200-yard individual medley (1:57.62, 1:57.39 in prelims) and sophomore
Brian Cremer (Blue Point/Bayport-Blue Point) was eighth in the 500-yard freestyle (5:02.91, 4:51.70 in prelims).
Burns captured the "B" final title to finish ninth overall in the 50-yard freestyle (21.16). Also on Thursday, freshman
Tim Thatcher (Staten Island/St. Peter's Boys) and freshman
Adam Kirchgessner (Irondequoit/West Irondequoit) finished 12th (4:51.60) and 13th (4:54.63, 4:52.96 in prelims), respectively, in the 500-yard freestyle, and Jakubek was 14th in the 200-yard individual medley (2:01.66, 2:00.56 in prelims).
Competition officially started on Wednesday with men's 3-meter diving. Junior
Lee Wade (Holtsville/Sachem East) finished in 11th place with 398.30 points (prelim score of 399.20 points) and freshman
Kaleil Balmir (Farmingdale) was 13th with 356.65 points.
