ITHACA, N.Y. –
Brenda Perrella (Hamburg/Frontier) posted ECAC marks in the weight throw and shot put and
Kayla Koelbel (Bradford, PA/Kings Park (NY)) hit an ECAC standard in the 60-meter hurdles as Cortland's women's indoor track and field team competed at the Cornell University Marc Deneault Memorial Invitational.
Perrella placed fourth of 20 in the weight throw at 15.18 meters (49' 9.75") and sixth of 17 in the shot put at 11.76 meters (38' 7"). Koelbel was sixth of 19 in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.16 seconds.
Koelbel was also one of four Red Dragons to finish in the top 10 in the long jump in a field of 22 competitors.
Nicole Hofmann (Farmingdale) finished seventh with a distance of 4.98 meters (16' 4.25"). Koelbel was eighth at 4.97 meters (16' 3.75"),
Katie Ellsworth (Suffern) finished ninth at 4.87 meters (15' 11.75"), and
Kirstin Kaessinger (Miller Place) placed 10th at 4.84 meters (15' 10.5").
Jane Martinez (East Lyme, CT) was fifth of 14 in the pole vault (3.30 meters - 10' 10"),
Dana Kupiec (Salem) finished sixth of 25 in the 300 meters (42.08), and
Diamond Jackson (Farmingville/Sachem East) placed sixth in the shot put (13.92 meters - 45' 8"). Kupiec missed the school record in the 300 meters by only eight hundredths of a second.
Carla Auguste (Brooklyn/Midwood) and
Gabriella Czerw (Holbrook/Sachem North) finished eighth and ninth, respectively, out of 19 in the triple jump. Auguste covered 10.52 meters (34' 6.25") and Czerw went 10.42 meters (34' 2.25").
Hannah Anthes (Liverpool) finished eighth of 18 in the 400 meters (1:01.71), and
Shannon Hanmer (Syracuse/Cicero-North Syracuse) was eighth in the shot put (10.53 meters - 34' 6.75"). Also for the Red Dragons,
Midge Moore (Massapequa) was ninth of 28 in the 60-meter dash (8.10) and
Melissa Emilio (Oneonta) finished ninth of 18 in the 800 meters (2:25.68).
Cortland will compete at the SUNYAC Indoor Championships Friday and Saturday, February 26-27, at Brockport.
