Kayla Koelbel Finishes 12th in Pentathlon at NCAA Championships

Kayla Koelbel competes in the high jump portion of the pentathlon at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. Koelbel finished in 12th place.
GRINNELL, IOWA – Cortland senior Kayla Koelbel (Bradford, PA/King Park (NY)) finished in 12th place in the pentathlon at the NCAA Division III Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Grinnell College.
 
Koelbel finished with 3,122 points. Peyton Dostie of Southern Maine won the title with 3,654 points. Koelbel missed eighth place and an All-America finish by 124 points.
 
Koelbel opened strong with a tie for third in the 60-meter hurdles (9.12) for 885 points and a tie for seventh in the high jump (1.55 meters/5' 1") for 678 points. She then scored 466 points in the shot put (9.03 meters/29' 7.5"), 487 points in the long jump (4.73 meters/15' 6.25") and 606 points in the 800-meter run (2:37.13).
 
Koelbel was Cortland's lone qualifier for nationals on the women's side.
