Jarred Iacovelli finished first in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with an ECAC-qualifying time of 9:24.57

Jarred Iacovelli (Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Regional) won the 3,000-meter steeplechase and was one of three Cortland competitors to post ECAC-qualifying performances as the Red Dragons began their outdoor track and field campaign at the predominantly Division I Monmouth University Season Opener.
Iacovelli and junior
Mitch Ryan (Plattsburgh/Seton Catholic) took the top two spots in the steeplechase with ECAC times. Iacovelli won the race in 9:24.57 and Ryan was second in 9:25.32.
Freshman
Storm Malone (Harrison/Highland) was Cortland's other ECAC qualifier with a sixth-place time of 15.70 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles.
Seven other Red Dragons placed in the top 10 of their events, led by sophomore
Charlie Kollmer (Mount Sinai) in third place and junior
Corey Fitchett (East Islip) in fifth place in the pole vault. Kollmer cleared 4.42 meters (14' 6"0 and Fitchett was good at 4.26 meters (13' 11.75"). Freshman
Matt Greenlaw (Warwick/Warwick Valley) was also in the top 10 in the pole vault at 3.95 meters (12' 11.5").
Sophomore
Aaron Granger (Delevan/Pioneer) finished sixth out of 70 runners in the 1,500 meters in 4:01.84. Cortland also recorded three top-10 showings in the 10,000 meters. Sophomore
Jesse Perrone (East Syracuse/East Syracuse Minoa) was seventh in 33:21.23, followed by freshman
Christian Yorks (Warwick/Warwick Valley) in eighth (33:25.65) and freshman
Jake Zedack (Mexico) in ninth (33:29.92).
Cortland will compete next Friday and Saturday, April 1-2, at the Ramapo College Roadrunner Invitational in Mahwah, N.J.
