KUTZTOWN, PA. – Senior
Kayla Koelbel (Bradford, PA/Kings Park (NY)) finished in 10th place to lead three Cortland competitors in the heptathlon at the Kutztown University Mondshein Multi event.
Koelbel finished with a score of 3,680 points, just three points out of ninth and 25 shy of eighth. She opened competition Thursday with 767 points in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.58 seconds, an ECAC DIvision III Championship qualifier.
Koelbel then rang up 678 points in the high jump with a height of 1.55 meters (5' 1") and, two events later, finished Day 1 with 705 points in the 200-meter dash at 27.08 seconds. She was in fourth place after Day 1 before dropping after the final three events.
Sophomore
Nicole Hofmann (Farmingdale) placed 12th out of 19 competitors with 3,641 points. She scored more than 600 points in three events - the 100-meter hurdles (16.78), the 200-meter dash (27.85), and the 800 meters (2:35.60). Freshman
Nicole Hallenbeck's (Claverack/Taconic Hills) finished in 18th place with 2,624 points after a "did not finish" result in the 1,500 meters. She tallied 510 points in the 100-meter dash (17.79) and 495 points in the shot put (9.47 meters - 31' 1").
