Dawan Jones hit an ECAC standard in the triple jump with his ninth-place distance of 45' 2.5"
LEWISBURG, PA.–
Mitch Ryan (Plattsburgh/Seton Catholic) and
Jarred Iacovelli (Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Regional) took the top two spots in the unseeded 5,000-meter run with two of Cortland's nine ECAC Division III Championship qualifying performances as the Red Dragons competed at the two-day Bucknell University Bison Outdoor Classic Men's Track and Field meet Saturday and Sunday.
Ryan finished first out of 118 runners with a time of 14:42.23, just ahead of Iacovelli's runner-up time of 14:43.50.
Cortland's 4x100-meter relay team of
Jerel Williams (East Islip),
Romain Saint Germain (Westbury),
Zach Meszler (Altamont/Herkimer) and
Alec Swider (Glenville/Scotia-Glenville) finished fourth with an ECAC time of 42.01 seconds.
Nick Vachon (Johnson City/Maine-Endwell) placed eighth in the high jump at 1.94 meters (6' 4.25") and
Dawan Jones (Buffalo/Tapestry Charter) was ninth in the triple jump at 13.78 meters (45' 2.5"), both ECAC measurements.
Mitch Couch (Oneonta) recorded two of Cortland's ECAC-qualifying efforts. He placed ninth in the hammer throw at 52.80 meters (173' 3") and 10th in the shot put at 14.82 meters (48' 7.5"). The other Red Dragon ECAC qualifiers were
Micheal Outing (Farmingdale) in the 110-meter hurdles (11th place, 15.08) and Meszler in the 200-meter dash (17th place, 22.13).
The Red Dragons posted four other top-20 finishes at the meet.
Charlie Kollmer (Mount Sinai) was ninth in the pole vault (4.35 meters - 14' 3.25"),
C.J. White (Middletown) finished 15th in the triple jump (13.15 meters - 43' 1.75"), Couch was 14th in the discus (43.24 meters - 141' 10"), and Saint Germain finished 18th in the 100-meter dash (11.07).
Cortland is scheduled to send competitors to the Princeton Larry Ellis Invitational on Friday, April 22, and to the Cornell Upstate Challenge on Saturday, April 23.
