ITHACA, N.Y. – Cortland's women's outdoor track and field team earned five victories and six runner-up finishes at the Ithaca College Tuesday Quad Meet. The event featured competitors from Cortland, Ithaca College, SUNY Delhi and Herkimer County Community College.
Jane Martinez (East Lyme, CT) met ECAC qualifying standards with her victory in the pole vault. She was one of two competitors to clear 3.35 meters (10' 11.75"), with misses determining her top placement.
Jackie Boyce (Greenwich) won the 10,000 meters in 42:02.42 and
Hannah Anthes (Liverpool) won the 400-meter dash in 1:02.59.
Dana Kupiec (Salem) was the 400-meter hurdles winner (1:07.97) and
Carla Auguste (Brooklyn/Midwood) captured top honors in the triple jump (9.88 meters - 32' 5").
Dana Messina (East Meadow) finished second in both the 100-meter (13.68) and 200-meter (28.46) dashes.
Mandy Sacca (Latham/Shaker) was runner-up in the 10,000 meters behind Boyce at 42:07.72 and
Jennifer Jelic (Oneonta) placed second in the 400-meter hurdles behind Kupiec in 1:08.22. In addition,
Katie Ellsworth (Suffern) was the runner-up in the long jump (4.57 meters - 15' 0") and
Jennifer De Gaetano (Smithtown/Smithtown West) was second in the discus (35.47 meters - 116' 4").
Cortland will compete at the Cornell Big Red Invitational on Sunday, May 1 at 11 a.m., and will also send one woman,
Mary Baughman (Rush/Rush-Henrietta), to compete in the 10,000 meters at The Penn Relays on Thursday, April 28 in Philadelphia.
