Romain Saint Germain was one of five Cortland All-ECAC performers with his sixth-place finish in the 100-meter dash
WESTFIELD, MASS. – The Cortland men's outdoor track and field team tied for 14th place out of 53 schools that scored points at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Championships Wednesday and Thursday at Westfield State University.
Cortland finished with 18 points as five Red Dragons earned top-eight scoring finishes and All-ECAC honors. Rowan won the team title with 90.5 points.
Dawan Jones (Buffalo/Tapestry Charter) tied for fourth place in the triple jump at 14.40 meters (47' 3") and
Nick Vachon (Johnson City/Maine-Endwell) tied for fourth in the high jump by clearing 2.01 meters (6' 7").
Mitch Couch (Oneonta) placed fifth in the discus with a distance of 47.07 meters (154' 5") as well as finishing 10th in the hammer throw at 51.99 meters (170' 7").
Romain Saint Germain (Westbury) finished sixth in the 100-meter dash (10.79) and
Storm Malone (Harrison/Highland) was seventh in the 110-meter hurdles (14.85) to earn Cortland's other top-eight All-ECAC honors.
Also for the Red Dragons,
C.J. White (Middletown) finished 16th in the triple jump at 13.44 meters (44' 1.25") and
Alec Swider (Glenville/Scotia-Glenville) was 24th in the 200-meter dash (22.62).
Cortland will compete at the NCAA Div. III Championships next Thursday through Saturday, May 26-28, at Wartburg College in Iowa. For the men, the top 20 performers nationally in each individual event, and the top 16 relays, qualify for nationals. Currently, Vachon ranks second in the high jump, Couch is 12th in the hammer, Jones is 20th in the triple jump, and
Jack Flood (Blue Point/Bayport-Blue Point) is third in the decathlon and 20th in the high jump.
Mitch Ryan (Plattsburgh/Seton Catholic) and
Jarred Iacovelli (Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Regional) are fourth and 12th, respectively, in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, and
Connor Christopherson (Morrisonville/Saranac) is 12th in the decathlon. The final NCAA participant list will be announced on Saturday.
