Koelbel and Balzano Earn All-ECAC Honors; Cortland Ties for 31st in Team Standings

Kailyn Balzano finished seventh in the 800-meter run
WESTFIELD, MASS. – The Cortland women's outdoor track and field team tied for 31st place out of 60 schools that scored points at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Div. III Championships Wednesday and Thursday at Westfield State University.
 
Two Red Dragons earned top-eight finishes and All-ECAC honors to account for the team's seven points. Rowan won the title with 61 points.
 
Kayla Koelbel (Bradford, PA/Kings Park (NY)) finished fourth in the heptathlon with 4,262 points. She scored 831 points in the 100-meter hurdles (15.08), 711 points in the 200-meter dash (27.01), 701 points in the high jump (1.57 meters/5' 1.75"), and 668 points in the 800 meters (2:32.01).
 
Kailyn Balzano (East Greenbush/Columbia) placed seventh in the 800 meters in 2:13.86. Dana Kupiec (Salem) just missed a scoring spot with a ninth-place time of 1:04.76 in the 400-meter hurdles.
 
Midge Moore (Massapequa) turned in a 10th-place effort in the 100-meter dash (12.51) and a 16th-place finish in the 200-meter dash (26.01). Jane Martinez (East Lyme, CT) was 11th in the pole vault at 3.31 meters (10' 10.25") and Jennifer Jelic (Oneonta) ended 14th in the 400-meter hurdles (1:06.21).
