Women's Cross Country Places 6th of 27 at Rochester Yellowjacket Invitational

Senior Allison Schumann finished as Cortland's second scorer
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Cortland women's cross country team placed sixth out of 27 teams at the Rochester Yellowjacket Invitational Saturday afternoon at Genesee Valley Park. Division I Cornell captured the team title with 23 points followed by Ithaca (103), Oberlin (116), St. Lawrence (118), Case Western (187) and Cortland (209).

Senior Mary Baughman (Rush/Rush-Henrietta) turned in Cortland's top performance, finishing the 6,000-meter course in 21st place in 22:49.1. Ithaca's Taryn Cordani won the race in 21:16.0. A total of 352 runners competed at the event.

All five of the Red Dragons' scoring runners finished in the top 80. Senior Allison Schumann (North Salem) crossed the finish line in 33rd place (23:25.8) as Cortland's second scorer. Rounding out the top five were junior Jasmine Meerdink (Rome/Rome Free Academy) in 59th (24:08.4), junior Megan Wagner (Niskayuna) in 71st (24:17.8) and junior Sara Billings (Gansevoort/South Glens Falls) in 80th (24:32.3).
